Szin and his twin brother Raiden are both part human and part Tah’Narian but Szin looks far more like a frail human than his brother, or just about anyone else in his circle of friends and family, other than his human dad. Szin has always known Takeo considered them fated to be mates almost since birth, but he keeps trying to convince himself as well as Takeo that he's not good enough for the powerful warrior.This extremely fast-paced book wasn't quite what I was expecting, and it was very difficult to put down. The fast pace means there wasn't as much time spent on character development as you might expect, although this didn't really detract from the story. However, it was clear that there was a backstory to the parents of both Szin and Takeo. I didn't fully appreciate when picking out this book that it was the continuation of another series, “The Harvestâ€. What does come out is intriguing enough to want to read the previous series, but I still feel this book still stands up on its own.Given the fast pace and light touch on character development you might expect the world building aspect of the plot to suffer as well. However, on this point the book does deliver enough, just enough, to help you understand the universe that Szin and Takeo inhabit. The two young men come from very different cultures. While they have spent a lot of time together over the years, there's still a bit of shock when Szin is suddenly plunged into Takeo's world. This is where much of the drama in the story comes from.The surprising aspect of the story was a bit of kink. It's quite mild, but still wasn't expected. While the plot may be a little light on character development, there's still enough for you to feel for the two young men and hope things turn out well for them, although there's very little doubt about that. At the end, the only real short-coming of the story is that it's a little too sweet for my taste.
I Loved Loved this series, they are so compelling, I can't stop reading the series over and over. Dynamic characters from 'Taken to Harvest' I just WISH that she would continue the series like writing about Szin and Takoe's new life or another book 3 of any of them..When I saw the christmas one it was like 'my wishes were heard' since I was reading the others over and over I am hooked on them.. I especially Like reading about the kids Raiden and Szin.. purrfect...humorous etc.. I am wondering or would like to see how many people want her to continue her stories,, ? I do enjoy her way of writing, but this series makes me wish for more stories...of them They are so dynamic, characters and plots.etc. sigh.... I implore MA Church to continue this series Taken Harvest etc.. all with me? applause
The Harvest is one of my all time favorite books--I read it first on Literotica and loved it. I enjoyed this story with Szin and Takeo. I also enjoyed peeking into Kenyon and Dale 's life since the last book. Now my question is when is Raiden's story coming out.
Yet another novel where an author, through laziness or willful ignorance, has taken sexual abuse and assault and glossed it up as romance.And no, I am not talking about the BDSM portrayed in the novel.
The harvest is one of my favorite series! So detailed and I love the fact the characters have aliens and different worlds. There is so much to the book and the main characters are written so well that I am anticipating the next book written by M.A. Church!!!!
This was a nice read..it was good to see all the gang...well mostly all the gang...I guess I wanted this book to be longer...I wanted to see more of the young grown up..not just 3 of them...I also wanted more of a plot ...hence the 3.5 review...I will read the next book however...I hope I don't have to wait to long....
I probably should have read the prequel series before jumping into this one, but I didn't. I still liked the book and thought it was engaging and fun. I would definitely give the next book in the series a try. I may even get to the prequel at some point. ;) An enjoyable read.
Love love this whole series ! It's one of those that I go back and read again from the beginning , every three months or so, I am a dedicated fan and I will continue to get them as they come out! I'm very happy that M.A. Church has decided to continue the series with the next generation!
