This review is for the Series: Absolutely inspiring -- every book in the series! -- well-developed characters, and wonderful story lines -- all stand-alone novels (though most are more meaningful if read in order) -- and very different kind of read. Earlier, I had read 3 of these books, out of sequence, and loved each one so much that I decided to start with the first and read them in order. While definitely stand-alone reads, there is some cross-over in some of the stories that made the reads much richer. I loved reading them straight through from 1-12. I will read #13 next and any that Ms MacLean adds to the series. This is a very special series, and the stories touched my heart.Great character development, inspiring and intriguing story line, and great editing. A pleasure to read any book by this author.I rated 11 of the 12 I read with 5-stars, and one a 4-star.Update: I grab up each new addition to this series! Never disappointed!
OMG I loved this story. I could hardly put this book down in order to eat!!! I am very into the out-of-body experiences, help from the other side, etc. so this was right up my alley.The story is about a young policeman, educated, a good man, but a little rough in areas. His love of one year is discovered cheating with his best friend. That left bitter and resentful feelings. Then the next lady he dates and is serious about dumps him for a guy she has just met. He feels he is doomed to always lose to the other guy. The same day as the dumping he gets shot in the line of duty.From the time he passes out from two bullet wounds until he wakes up in the hospital 5 days later, his life has changed completely. He reconnect with a childhood friend and promises to visit her when he is released. He goes to her house only to discover an unbelievable fact!!! There is too much in this story to try and tell briefly what it was about. So I will just say it was WONDERFUL, I LOVED it. I have read a lot on all the issues in this book and it was written so well I have to wonder if the author experienced any of this herself!!! It was great. There was no violence, no sexy scenes, etc. However, there was a HOT connection between the hero and heroine. That being said, any age group would be comfortable reading this story. I absolutely recommend it. Wow, I am blown away about all the life lessons in this book and how it ties right in with my spiritual beliefs Can't say enough good things. Loved it.
Wasn't sure what I expected from this book, especially since this (book #7) is the first one I read in this series. But I was not disappointed. I was able to pick up on some nuances that led me to believe something was "amiss" with the girl from his past. I found myself wishing for what did become the final outcome. It wasn't hard to believe any of the things that happened. I for one would like to believe in the afterlife and that the things that happened, can and do. I don't want to give too much away by being too direct in my comments and cause spoilers for anyone. But get it, read it and you too will enjoy it.
What is it that makes a story stick with you far longer than when the last page is turned. This story is not religious in any way, but the lesson of forgiveness and love comes shining through. The out of body white light experiences that some people have when faced with horrific situations happen for a reason. Call it a wake up call or if you can not wrap your mind around that, just say it was a supernatural experience that can change a life and the lives of those around a person. I personally would call it a blessing and a gift.
This is the first novel that I have read by this author, Julianne MacLean. I will be defiantly be reading more from her. The story starts out with Josh Wallace, a police officer, who doesn't have good luck with his love life. His mind is on the latest breakup when he gets shot twice stopping a carjacking. He has an out of body experience that he finds hard to accept because he is not religious. He sees one of his childhood friend, Leah James, she tells him about her brother, Riley, who is Josh's best childhood friend. Things get a little bit weird when he finds out about Leah from her baby sister Holly. This story keeps you turning the pages. I also really like the way the way the author has the characters talking in the first person. It makes the characters come to life and the readers can see what the other person is thinking about the way things are going. The Color of Seasons is the seventh novel of the series"The Color of Heaven". There are eight books in all. I would recommend this series to every one.
This is the first novel I've read of this series, so I sort of jumped into the middle of it.Josh is an unlucky young man. Just when he's worked up the courage to propose, his girlfriend dumps him. A chase with a criminal that night leads to an injury and a stay in the hospital. That's bizarre, to say the least, but when Josh wakes from a coma, he knows exactly what happened in the operating room and then sees a friend who's already dead. Questioning his sanity, Josh keeps the information to himself until he meets his friend's younger sister.This is a great story about love, friendship, heartache, family relations, hope, and despair. It is well written, and the characters are great. It will keep you turning the pages as you cheer for Josh and try to cheer him through his dark moments.
