This book contains different styles of drawing,,,,some seem like from a sketch- book...some seem like good images with solid lines to use when coloring,,and there are some pages with multiple images ,,,,look like a photo shop job. Each page has one image,,,nothing on the back.The paper quality is good. I was tired of flowers,etc. This iis exactly the change I was looking for. Nice clean rooms,,,,you can add to or not,,, I don't care for the intricate books,,,those are not relaxing to me. This book is great to color,,,,and inspires me to Clean Up My Clutter and make my rooms look like these! Great Buy !!!

I found this book colorful home very exciting ,because it gives you an eye for interior design.This would be a useful tool to be an interior decorator.

This coloring book is good. Majority of the pages are drawn well and are great to color. My only complaint is that some pages are drawn very faintly and hard to see and color, and a few pages are very faded/smudged, but only a few. Overall it’s a good book and worth the money.

However, when I opened it up I immediately realized what a JACKPOT I had hit. Not only was I about to learn "Sports GM for Dummies", but I was actually about to learn it from over 15 of the best in the business of Minor League Baseball. The book covered everything, from sales to F&B and how to navigate the roads inbetween. This was an excellent read and I would recommend it to anyone from those looking to break into Sports to those already established in the industry.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The reality is most sports teams and leagues struggle for resources, both people and dollars. This book is a guide for all of us with a small staff. Lots of great examples of achieving a lot with not a lot. Highly recommended

The recent rise of nationalism, as reflected by the vitriolic nature of national politics in many countries had inspired me to seek answers in Benjamin Anderson’s seminal work. ‘The Imagined Communities’ was originally published in 1983, and the current revised edition was released in 2006. This is the definitive text on the nationalism. Anderson postulates that nations are a complex, socio-political, and cultural constructs that emerge in the imagining of groups of people. He traces three main, interrelated themes of influence in the imagining of nations.Firstly, he explores the influence of language, script and mass literacy, with the fall of the old ‘sacred’ languages like Latin and the spread of vernacular language through the advent of ‘print capitalism’ (a happy merger between print technology and capitalism). Secondly, the de-authorization of centripetal power structures, like monarchies and dynasties with divinely vested rule is examined. Finally, the very notion of time are reimagined is flat and continuous.Benedict Anderson makes his concepts relevant to global citizens by drawing examples from Europe and the former colonies in the Americas and Asia. The independence achieved by the colonies in the Americas were in a different time and had different influences, compared to the fairly recent colonial independence of the South East Asian countries. Being a South East Asian scholar, Anderson lovingly contrasts the colonies of French Indochina and the Dutch East Indies, detailing the influences that caused Indochina to fragment into three separate states (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia), while the vast and varied island populations of Dutch East Indies to meld with relative harmony into Indonesia. Also explored are the shaping of a nation’s borders and consciousness by its conquerors by means of economic and military defined maps, national census that require categorisation of people and the propaganda of antiquities in museums.This is a compelling read, albeit a fairly difficult one. Anderson writes mainly in English, but scattered in are words, sentences and paragraphs in innumerable other languages, thus the narration is stunted. Also, the author writes for a more educated audience, as a layperson in the fields of sociology, political science, and history, I struggled with the sometimes unhelpful footnotes and references. Nevertheless, this is a compelling read, and I am happy to note translated to many languages to reach a wider audience.

A classic look at the inherent constructedness of nationalism, Anderson's book and his definition of the nation as a (limited and sovereign) imagined community are still essential to any study of modern nationalism or the rise of nation-states. He bases the rise of the nation on the development of print culture in Europe, which helped popularize vernacular literature and standardize national languages. Two criticisms: (1) despite his use of examples from around the world, his analysis is still quite Eurocentric. For example, I'm not sure if his theory can deal with the fact that China had print culture 500 years before Gutenberg, had a standardized script 1000 years before that, yet did not form a "nation" that would fit his definition. (2) The nationalism Anderson describes in detail is really a nationalism of literate elites, especially beyond his "first wave" of nationalism in the Americas. Here Eugen Weber's Peasants into Frenchmen would be a good complement. But the book is still extremely valuable, and eye-opening for anyone who believes that their nation really has primordial origins.

As a professional money manager and author, I found this book a must have for the entire spectrum of investors.Greg Morris is the Morris in murphymorris.com, the vehicle for technical analysis guru and frequent CNBC guest John Murphy, whose ongoing analysis and excellent history of prescient market calls places him in the Hall of Fame.Candlestick charts are standard in most charting programs and have become the hallmark of day traders. But this is an ancient art from the Far East, which Greg was among the first to champion, and popularize. Greg studied the art in person while in Japan and learned not just the technique, but the cultural and more deeply rooted use of this useful form of analysis. It is this in depth knowledge, combined with Greg's conversational and easy to read style which makes this book a classic.Greg is a trader, and makes this clear throughtout the book, sticking to the business at hand, and not reminiscing about his own personal glory, or useless anecdotes. The book is immediately useful and made a great difference in my own ability to analyze stocks and make trading decisions.Especially useful and extremely important are the sections which deal with candlestick patterns which alert the trader as to potential upcoming changes in the trend. These have saved me many times, and have allowed me to both buy and sell correctly when other popular methods have not.Just that is worth the price of the book.

This particular book is my "main read" about the stock market at this time. But,,, it could be much better. I suggest that the same editor (or maybe another editor!) re-do the majority of this book so we may read this book by picking the book up and starting from a visual cue. Editorially the book leaves so much to desire - and I really do BLAME THE EDITOR. Visual candlesticks are placed within the text of the book haphazardly - thus making reading text about candlesticks difficult - are we reading about this image or that? Why not make it easy for the reader? What is this?It is my belief that with another edition of this book could be a good buy. As the book reads now, I find my efforts are spent trying to match text to candlesticks... and it is quite confusing.

If you are reading this review you probably already know Japanese candle patterns a.k.a.candlestick charts give you much more information at a glance about the current market psychology than does any other charting method. Gregory Morris gives a detailed account of all the candle patterns and how to interpret them for their usefulness in market timing and strategies as well as how well each works based on his statistical study of 7275 stocks with 14.6 million days of data. Don't let that throw you - each candle pattern starts off with a commentary then the rules of recognition and the scenarios and psychology behind the pattern, the pattern flexibility, pattern breakdown and related patterns and finally an example in a real stock chart IE: not something he made up for educational purposes. As will anything, you will need to take each pattern and locate them in many (100's) of stock charts so they become second nature to your evaluating a chart pattern.There is a huge amount of information in this book - so I strongly suggest you also buy the "Candlestick Charting Explained Workbook" which is like a bootcamp for those studying candlesticks. I found going through the workbook gets you up to speed on candlesticks quicker and will jump start your understanding the Candlestick Charting Explained book.The small financial investment and somewhat larger time investment you make with this book will make you a profitable trader.

A great question is which is better: Nison or Morris? Nison is for those who use indicators; Morris is the purist using only volume.Reference book? Morris gives you the picture and the explanation in an easy format and an index to find it. He also breaks the candles into groups and types. This is the valuable part of the book.Who is more in depth? Well that's a tie with Morris winning slightly on candles & losing if you want to view the whole Japanese charting world, Kagi, Renko, 3 line break. Nison gives other Japanese charting types weight in the book which is good if you have Metastock bad if you don't. Personally I like the other methods.So why did I give Morris the nod? As a professional trader I can't really give away an edge except that Morris is more tuned towards stocks & gives hints that Nison did not.Nison is also a boring writer, better lecturer. Morris is a better writer, teacher.Remember Morris gives you everything and if that's not enough then you're not reading carefully; looking over these previous reviews makes me happy because they obviously missed Morris' hints and guides. I saw them and my trading improved & I had used Candles for a long time before getting to Morris ala Nison & began to think them worthless. Now I understand their role.Enough said.

I am an avid candlestick day trader. Morris makes some very good points and his book is enlightening and understandable to a newbie. However, he is married to stochastics and there are far better indicators than stochastics for confirmation of trade entry. Also,I found that a few of Morris' ideas were either wholly impracticable and sometimes, per my experience, wrong. Plus, he was not at all clear on stop-loss settings.

This little book is a synopsis of the big book and completes Morris' comprehensive approach to understanding "sticks"! The quizzes touch every important concept and assist in retaining the information. THIS LITTLE BOOK IS INDISPENSABLE!

Flashy, very L.A. in the 70s from a woman who grew up there and went to HS in Hollywood. Funny, sassy, in the end sad because so many women seem to feel their lives are over past 40 and the freshness of high-heeled youth. Funny satire of Emerald Beach Laguna, WASP rich haven from the nonwhite, nonProt, nonPreppy. I enjoyed it, as someone who spent teenage years of the 50s in Pasadena, CA and went on HS weekends to Balboa and Newport Beach, drove over hills and ranches to Laguna -- where Riverside now is! Unrecognizable.

What a fun read. Now I'll be devouring everything Lady Eve Babitz has written, although she'd give me a slap on the wrist for calling her lady, but very pleased to know her work is being re-published. What a wild ride. Also her aside about pasta had me in stitches for longer than I'd like to admit. I often found myself thinking this was the type of book smart, funny, independent women would publish today; it came out in 77'! The book feels remarkably fresh and still oh-so-relevant.

Told as a series of romantic encounters that waiver between the silly and the profound, this novella is an excellent introduction to the life and work of Eve Babitz.

This book reads like Hemingway with a sense of humor. So much unforgettable imagery: “the Santa Anas were blowing so hard that searchlights were the only things in the sky that were straight.” I mean, Jesus Christ, that’s just gorgeous.

So that is LA. I thought better of it.The Place is present but the characters float about and then die.

This was a Christmas gift for my daughter.

I am slightly younger than the author and I, too, grew up in LA, so this was a blast from the past for me. Very much enjoyed it.

babitz is amazing. i prefer her short stories much more than her novels. but she is amazing. this by far is my favorite collection of hers.

When an avalanche kills one person and incapacitates another, the narrative moves among Matt's rescue party, those tending to the injured person, and the mountain lion hunting the unaware humans. Any one of the ensuing calamities would take a miracle to survive, but adventure stories require the suspension of disbelief. Braun's cinematic descriptions place readers in the middle of the action, while touches of humor and contemplation about life and family issues will keep them interested in the characters. Strong, smart Leah is the most compelling one to watch and learn from. This is an easy read, but language, alcohol, and mild drug use might make this more appropriate for an older audience. Once you begin reading, you'll be sitting at the edge of your seat. The author does a super job keeping the tension tight and the story line going. I know some people will wonder about a few of the animal scenes, but I live in a wilderness area, and the tenacity and strength of the mountain lion (cougar) in the book is NOT exaggerated. Parents, I would caution that you might want to read the book before your younger teens or preteens do. There are scenes that might not be sexually or socially appropriate for your child, but the book is great.

Armed with only a handful of supplies and his fierce determination Matt decides to goes head-to-head with the elements, battling hypothermia, frostbite, and even mountain lions in order to find help and save them all. That is if Mother Nature doesn’t kill him first.Avalanche is a quick and easy read. Once the nominal event occurs, the action is constant. There is no end to the deadly situations these kids can get themselves into. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but in the same way I enjoy an action movie; if it’s exciting, I’m on board. Some suspension of logic is required, especially after the second time Matt nearly gets himself killed by behaving recklessly. By the point that he should have been dead for a third time, I was beginning to wonder why Leah didn’t just do him in herself. Then Leah, levelheaded, mountain savvy Leah, does something that even a newbie like myself knows you’re not supposed to do, and nearly gets them both killed. The author could have easily written the scene without throwing one of her few sensible characters under the bus, but chose not to. That’s just bad parenting.Honestly, this isn’t a bad book. The reader can tell that Ms. Braun did some good research, and that is nothing to ignore; it’s the one feature that takes this from being a mediocre book to being a pretty good read. I would recommend Avalanche to readers 12 and older who enjoy action and adventure.

Stung by yet another snub by his professor father, this time because Dad’s 28 year old girlfriend is having pregnancy issues, Matt is eager to go from Des Moines to Colorado on a school break. Smart and having an eclectic mind, He’s not wise in the ways of survival or girls, two areas where skills will soon have plenty of value. He and his best friend Toby have been invited by Toby’s older brother Sid to join a group of college age kids on a backcountry skiing adventure. It’s an interesting group. In addition to Matt, Toby and Sid, there’s Dylan, wealthy and somewhat reckless, his girlfriend Julie, and Sid’s sibling roommates, Carter and Leah. Matt and Toby aren’t novices, but skiing at 11,000 feet, while going uphill as much as down tests them right from the start. When an avalanche hits, burying Dylan and seriously injuring Sid, everyone’s strength and mental stability are tested. The party must decide who goers for help (there’s no cellphone service at the abandoned cabin where they seek shelter) and who stays with Sid. How that’s decided and what happens to each group make for a fast and tension-filled read. You might criticize some of the decisions made at times, but unless you’ve been in an unpredictable and life-threatening crisis yourself, it’s easy to play armchair quarterback. I really enjoyed the book and think teen adventure junkies will as well. Yes, there’s strong language and drinking, but both are typical of college age characters.

Entertaining story. Some of the events were pretty far-fetched, but held my interest. Most importantly, all the characters were likeable and "real". I would not call this a "teen" book, but definitely "young adult". That being said I'm 61 years old and enjoyed the story.Warning: Sexual references, drinking, drugs and violent paragraphs.

This was a great read. I was angry at the way some of the events turned, but that's why it was so good - not predictable! Nice length, very fast paced.
