Very nice, helps to visualize a realistic view of the animal.

I found out about this book through a Veterinary Technician study group. One of the students posted a photo and was so excited about it. I love anatomy but find it quite challenging to remember everything now that I am no longer 15 and have a full time job and a household to care for. I purchased this coloring book - because I love to color - the anatomy part was a bonus. I have found it to be invaluable in helping me learn the name and location of anatomical structures of the animal body. This book has many species not just cats and dogs. Coloring in a section that has a name for you to refer to makes it so much easier to remember. This has become my favorite part of Vet Tech Animal Anatomy. It's also quite affordable and it's not something you will finish in a few weeks - it is extensive.

I bought this book excitedly as I’m currently pre-med but considering vet school as well (and of course love coloring) and thought this would be a fun way to refamiliarize myself with some of the material. However, I received this book to find that it’s printed on a glossy paper that’s standard for textbooks but horrible for drawing or coloring. I also found that some of the information within the book is inaccurate. Because of this I don’t feel it should be considered a coloring book at all. I also don’t encourage its use as an educational aid because of the potential for learning/memorizing false information.

I used this to study first year veterinary anatomy. There are some errors, so don't use this as your only study resource. But this can be a great supplement, especially for vessels and nerves.

This book is so awesome! I got this for myself while I was in vet tech school. It was very helpful to me especially during anatomy and physiology. I actually used some pages out of this coloring book for a group activity in class as well. I love using materials that make learning fun.

This book has been very useful and helpful, my only complaint is that I wish it was spiral bound to make copying the pages easier.

I got this for school and it’s got a lot of good information but it would have been much more helpful if it coresponded to the way my school teaches anatomy (by system) i couldn’t really use much of it because it mixes and combines body systems. Overall good concept but it would be great if it had options for how it’s organized.

I'm a first year vet student and I absolutely love this coloring book! The drawings are wonderful and very detailed. It's another great way to study for anatomy. I would definitely recommend this to any future vet students.

When I first decided to get the book, the reviews and briefs had focused my attention on Water availability and shortages. Only after getting into the book did I realize how crucial is the information it provides in TWO OTHER critical areas: Climate change; and Agricultural Sustainability - for the “Developing World” AND the “Developed” world.The material in this book is VERY important, as the material recently in “the general press” about problems in those three (3) areas seems totally unaware of and MIS-directed in it's ‘technical approach’ to some of the most important background …in all three areas, and especially the interrelationships between factors in each area !!Ms. Schwartz makes a very interesting – and challenging – statement, to the effect that our world has never contained more, or less, water than it does at present. The “problems” we are having are because of LACK OF understanding, or major misunderstanding, about water's relationship with our soils …and especially how our recent “industrial agricultural” approaches jeopardize both our water supplies and our food sustainability, as well as our climate.I truly believe that the problems in these areas WILL NOT be solved unless many more people become informed, and understand the material this book provides.And yet it’s not some long, burdensome tome ...only 224 pages, and readily understandable. I highly recommend this book to anyone concerned about any or all of those three (3) issues above.

Judith's work in her new book, Water In Plain Sight - Hope For A Thirsty Planet, and her previous book, Cows Save The Planet, bring us a huge message of hope as we are faced with climate change, drought, floods, wildfire, food insecurity and poor nutrition.Judith talks about how we are used to thinking about drought as a lack of rainfall, but we ignore the effects of land and soil degradation on the soil’s ability to hold onto rainfall. When we talk about climate change we focus on greenhouse gasses such as carbon dioxide and methane, but water has the bigger ability to absorb heat. When we start to investigate the water cycle, we quickly become aware of how inextricably linked this is with the carbon cycle.Our standard agricultural practices, involving tilling the land, planting single species in huge fields and adding artificial chemical fertilizers, release the carbon from the soil, leaving it to hang out in our atmosphere, adding to the problems of climate change. In destroying the soil's structure, they destroy the amazing ecosystem that works to support plants, to hold carbon in the soil and to create healthy, nutrient dense food crops.In the book, Judith visits with people all over the world and tells us how each of them are changing the way they interact with the land to increase the carbon content of the soil. In doing so, they increase the water holding capacity of the soil, they grow plants that are more robust and nourishing, and those plants in turn create a cooler environment that is not only more comfortable to live in, they deter wildfire, attract more rain, creating this virtuous cycle that gives us refreshing hope in this war against climate change.

Freakin' Phenomenal. Another great one by Schwartz. Hungry for more after reading Cows Save the Planet, this book delivers an enormous amount of new information. Many of the books I read on these types of subjects seem repetitive and have little new to offer. Schwartz's book hammers home a new and original message, when we think about climate change we must think beyond carbon emissions, beyond industry, agriculture, and automobiles. We must step back and look at things holistically, we must rethink how we manage our grasslands, forests, and water resources. And she does this with detail, evidence, and good story telling. This book is a much needed aid in a time where we spend more time criticizing others for how they think of climate change than understanding it ourselves.

What a wonderful book. Fresh water is becoming a more and more important commodity. Having enough is going to be crucial for us to get through the next century intact. And the author makes the point that, as she says, "When soil is left bare, water evaporates, carbon oxidizes and microorganisms die. The ground becomes a hot plate and can no longer sustain life. Water runs off the land instead of sinking into it."That's the key. We've been focusing on the wrong things. If we want more fresh water, the place to focus is on healthy soil.One more quote from the book: "As in the African bush and on and around North America’s industrial farms, all around the world we have problems with water: water shortages and runoff and floods. But maybe we can reframe our challenge as having a keeping-water-in-the-ground problem. For this is certainly a problem we can do something about. What we need to do is promote land management practices that enhance a part of our water infrastructure that we’ve been treating like dirt: the ground."

This may very well be the most divisive book in the folk music community. I have found that people who think of themselves primarily as singers tend to love it because it has the lyrics to 1,200 songs. People who think of themselves primarily as instrumentalists tend to hate it, because the chords are presented in a mysterious, hard to decipher, harder to play notation that gives you no clue as to what the time signature, the tempo, and the rhythm of the song are. The separation of the chords from the lyrics in the text adds to the difficulty. In addition, since only chords and lyrics are presented, the book gives no clue as to what the melody is, so a melody player like a fiddler is out of luck. Its fans will excuse these shortcomings by telling you that to use the book you have to know the song. This makes little sense to me as a guitarist, bassist and fiddler, because if I know the song, I don't need a fake book. Other problems are that the chords listed for some songs are simplified to the point of removing the richness from the harmonies and for other songs are just downright wrong. While it contains a lot of songs, it tends to omit or give short shrift to many of the songs from the darker side of the folk tradition (e.g. songs of rage, hurt, self pity, grief...). The type in the standard-sized edition is pretty small, so if you have any issues with your vision, this book will be hard to read when it is sitting on a music stand, especially under low light. Although the font is a bit bigger in the group leader edition, these 52-year-old eyes still find it tough going. If you are a serious folk musician, you may need to have a copy of this because it is widely used. If you have a choice in the matter there are far better books out there, though they do not contain as many songs.

Reading some of the negative reviews, I think it may be helpful to point out that over-use of the term "fake book" by some to describe the book may have led to wrong expectations.Rise Up Singing is a "song book", one that is jam-packed with lyrics for many, many songs people love to sing--1200 of these songs in one book. To get so many lyrics into one book, however, accommodations had to be made. The type in the regular copies is rather small, although nicely dark which helps. (There is a leader copy with slightly larger print, but unfortunately -- at least in mine -- the print is lighter, so the increased size isn't as much of a help as it could be.)The book also has an unusual space-saving methodology that takes some getting used to. Wherever possible, repeated lines of lyrics get cut back. There is a system to this, however. You just need to read the introductory information on how the songs are typed up. Once you get used to it, it works quite well--and allows 1200 songs to co-exist in one handy volume.Do NOT expect to pick this book up and quickly play songs you don't already know well in front of an audience, however. I guess that's what a "fake book" would normally be. This is not that.So don't think of this as a "fake book." The chords are included so that when you see a song you know, you have some means to figure out how to play along. Again, to save space, only minimal information is provided and the chords are not inter-spaced between lines. What the book's chords do give you is a way to learn to play along with the songs. Just don't expect to do this the fly.Also, don't expect the book to show you the melodies, except in the case of rounds. If you want to learn the melodies for songs you don't already know, the book does contain information on existing recordings that can be found for most of the songs. Additionally, there are "teaching CD's", recorded by co-editor Annie Patterson, which give the melody for each song. Here again, though, you need to remember you're dealing with 1200 songs in the book so the CD's need to be similarly minimalist: they only give enough of a verse, chorus, or bridge to teach the song. (Think about it. Most music CD's don't have more than about 12 tracks to them. If these did full songs at 12 per CD, that would add up to 100 CD's!--but if learning to sing the songs is what you want, you don't need 100 CD's. With the "teaching CD's", the tunes for all 1200 songs are contained in just 20 discs.)While I agree with one reviewer that in some of the songs the chords suggested may miss more complex harmonies, or occasionally be just off, what I do in these cases is just mark up the book with my own preferred chording in the margin. As compact as the book is, there's still space for that. But again, don't expect this to be a book from which an instrumentalist can "fake" an accompaniment to a song he or she doesn't already know how to play--unless they're good enough to do the rest by ear after a quick glance at the suggested chord progressions.As for content, while some people may have trouble with the somewhat liberal bias of the book, if they're willing to overlook the ones they don't approve of, they'll find plenty of traditional songs to enjoy here as well.This is a great book and very useful, if you don't expect it to be something it's not.(Full disclosure: I have a relationship with the editors, which could contribute to bias, but I also do love the book.)

I remember singing so many of these songs on family car trips or washing dishes with my sisters. At first my sisters taught me the songs they were singing in school, or my parents would teach us songs they grew up with, and then I started school and learned many American folks songs and traditional songs. One of our biggest challenges was remembering all the words to all the verses - or in some cases, understanding them correctly from the recordings we heard. As a new mother, I came across this book and fell in love with it. Just about any song you can think of that you learned growing up in the US is in this book -- with all the lyrics. You do not need to read music to enjoy this book, because only the Singing Games / Rounds have musical notation for the melody line. There are guitar chords for those who play, which makes it even better for bringing along on camping trips or to family reunions. But it is really all about the lyrics -- so we can continue the tradition of singing these songs. The book is completely sourced with the composer / lyricist for each piece, if known, and has multiple indices so that you can search contextually for songs (e.g., Holidays, Work, Lullabies, Spirituality, etc.). My favorite packaging of the book is the regular sized soft cover spiral bound version. I now buy this book for families who have new children or babies, to remind them to sing to their babies and with their children, and help them avoid the "I can never remember the words..." excuse!

However, Jacob Morgan has managed to make what would normally be a boring, tiresome research paper into an engaging guidebook about how to help your employees feel like they want to show up to work every day, as opposed to coming to the office out of obligation. Believe it or not, most people aren't happy in their jobs, they say they are, but they have succumbed to the "I'll be happy when…" Cycle. And other words, "I'll be happy when I get that promotion,” or “I'll be happy when I get that corner office.” Jacob Morgan teaches us to be happy in the moment because our human experiences, not The bottom line, really matter. Through fascinating anecdotes, numerous tables, and notes, at the end of each chapter, employers are taught that it's the physical environment, technology and Business culture that are most important. In fact, according to the book, there is a seventeen point scale to ensure a successful company and each point is discussed in great detail. I would recommend this book to anyone who is either a big/small business owner (size doesn’t matter) or anyone interested in business.

When first starting this book, I was not sure that all of the subjects within would apply to me, even though I was highly interested. Was I in for a surprise! Jacob Morgan writes with purpose and intent about “The Employee Experience” that I never realized I was missing. Finishing this piece was not only equivalent to turning on a light bulb, it was more as if I felt I was turning over the key to start a new race car. Every chapter filled me with inspiration and knowledge for what I want in a company and how I would want to help change every other business currently operating.Morgan sets the premise in the first section, explaining that In the past, companies attracted talent by necessity - everyone had to work because everyone needed money to survive. Now, talent is being fought over. In order to do this, organizations have to create places employees WANT to be, instead of places they HAVE to be. In the following sections, he goes on in detail to describe how to shift the work experience to one that increases satisfaction. This way, instead of viewing work as “drudgery” and a purchase of an employee’s time, work itself is transformed into something that a paycheck simply rewards.Something that many of us, employees and executives alike, fail to grasp is the difference between cosmetic changes that occur in employment engagement strategies and deeper, more meaningful and satisfying changes that happen when employee experience is taken into consideration. Even though these two terms have been used synonymously before, Morgan uses clear definitions and an abundance of examples to explain why it is so important to distinguish them. In order to properly explain this, Morgan applies 17 attributes to “the employee experience” through a series of acronyms: COOL (in reference to physical workspace) ACE (in reference to technology) and CELEBRATED (in reference to the cultural environment). Each of the acronyms are thoroughly explained through their own chapters which include tips on how to implement each step as well as examples of companies that both exemplify and underperform in the attribute at hand. At first I was skeptical about the use of acronyms, as it felt like a self-help book that was too good to be true, but I quickly remembered them and was easily able to mentally catalog the vast amount of information in the book by using them.He does not bypass the ever changing world of technology and how this impacts the employee experience. In the final section, and one of my favorite and most surprising chapters I read- while suggesting how to optimize and implement the practices explained throughout previous chapters he leaves no excuses for large corporations to skimp due to data overload. Morgan incorporates the idea of artificial intelligence and how it can help with feedback when dealing with multi-thousand employee companies and feedback from each individual.I appreciate so much about “The Employee Experience Advantage”. The application of relevant, elegant and easy-to-read diagrams and graphs stood out above all. In a data-heavy, concept heavy book such as this, these visual representations helped tremendously. They were well-executed and even in the financial chapter, where any graph could easily get confusing, each image was clearly explained in a manner that someone who has not taken an analytics course can understand. This book is an absolute necessity for any organization seeking to not only to hire more talented people, but also to retain those that they already have. It is not only for the executive- it is for the frontline employee, the human resource staff and everyone in between.

We All Care About the Experience is a book that explores the organizational changes observable in recent history that transformed much of the work force from being motivated by maintaining a well-oil machine to that of one that cares about the employee experience. While the book explores the motivations for the changes, it also explores how the employee experience expectations have evolved to evoke this change from organizations, identifying root causes, and direct colorations in which the pool of employees has demanded a different work environment.I personally work in the technology industry and can point to direct changes in my work environment as a result of the motivations explored within this book. While I love my job, I am part of a generation that wants to find fulfillment every day, and seeing organizations make the change to better provide that to employees is very well defined in this read.Not only does this book open up the processes that motivated the changes but it is inspiring to read as a “worker”. The underlying theme of this book that I think should be moved to the forefront is the power of the employee. The shift in how an organization must view their employees has empowered the workforce to have a more demanding presence within their role of employment. My favorite take away from this book is how employees have demanded a better work experience and have helped motivate organizations enough to see change in the correct direction.This book is a great read if you work in an organization that emphasis culture as a selling point, to better your understanding of their motivations and how you can best influence the culture to ensure you have a better experience at work.
