My 10 year old sports fanatic loves them, especially this one about his favorite player, LeBron James.

I purchased this for my 8 yr old grandson. He's a huge LeBron fan b/c his Dad went to the same high school. He read 60 pages the first day and finished the book in less than a school week. I'd say it was a hit!As a teacher, I've been aware of the Matt Christopher books for a long time. They are quality reading.

Totally in awe. The time and skill required to complete this book of history brought to life, is staggering. I've been anticipating the release for weeks now. Previews and discussions on Twitter. History with the veil of black and white lifted.

This is a beautiful and fascinating book, published in the UK as “The Colour of Time” and in the U.S. as “The Color of Time” (October 2, 2018). The well-written and informative text is by Dan Jones, author of “The Plantagenets,” “The War of the Roses” and “The Templars.” Each decade is introduced by a single photograph, a “Zeitgeist” overview of the period, and a timeline that is loosely tied to the photographs that follow.The narrative explains each photograph and the historical context from which it is taken. The photographs drive the story, and in this sense the book reminds me of Neil MacGregor’s magnificent “A History of the World in 100 Objects.” Some of the photos are familiar and iconic (you’ve seen them in black and white), others a bit more obscure—all are beautifully rendered by Marina Amaral.I learned a great deal from this beautiful book and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I’ve also picked up two other news books featuring colorized photographs, “History as They Saw It”, by Wolfgang Wild and Jordan Lloyd, and “Retrographic” by Michael Carroll. Some of the photos are the same, and it will be interesting to see how different artists have interpreted how the colors should appear (there’s inevitably a bit or artistic license involved).On a related topic, be on the look out for Peter Jackson’s new documentary, “They Shall Not Grow Old,” in which he colorizes World War I footage, uses computer technology to smooth out the jerkiness of the old films, and adds sound and words (based on forensic lip reading of the old films) to create a documentary of WWI “as they saw it.”

An absolutely gorgeous book. Purchased as a gift, and it took my breath away when it arrived. Now everyone on my list is getting a copy for Christmas, including "my husband" (let's be honest it's for me). It's difficult to explain the emotional depth the color adds to these photos, but it's a masterpiece and I can't recommend this book more highly. Note - I actually prefer this UK cover to the American version, which is different and has a photo on it. To me, this catches the eye better.

Intriguing!Of course this isn’t a definitive history book, rather snapshots of what was happening in the world from 1850 to 1960.The very first pic is of JFK and Jackie O.Understated, real, concise...it’s almost like you have your own time machine. You realize history more in depth given the color enhanced photographs.This book in the very least is at least a great coffee table reader.

After receiving it and reading through the first series of pages shows it's an absolutely stunning book.The beautiful full page photographs and the accompanying text that details the subject and the time they lived in really bring you back in time. There's nothing like it. You'll lose yourself in this book!

Beautiful. That's the only word that comes to mind when I page through this. Seeing images from the 1860s in full, vibrant color is amazing. And the colorization is so well done that you'd think Ms. Amaral has a time machine. Highly, HIGHLY recommended.

This is an incredible awesome exciting history book. The artist is an incredible young lady. Great for that history buff in your family or a friend. Buy this. You will not regret it.

I am well educated by modern western standards - I have a masters degree in electrical engineering, and a masters degree in business (MBA)...I am middle-aged so I have had plenty of time to witness life on earth...I was also in the US Navy at an early age...I hope this gives you a context for my review........I have to honestly say, without any reservation, from the bottom of my heart - that this is the single MOST IMPORTANT book - rather EDUCATION - of my entire life...Nothing else comes close....If you are seeking true happiness, inner peace, would like to really internalize "why you are here", this is the best work around....If you want to learn how to deal with your resentment, prejudices, and maybe most-importantly, ego - this book will do it for you. And if you don't think you have any of these issues - perhaps you need this book even more!...This book goes beyond formal religion (which I do not partake in), beyond meditation (which I've practiced for ~30 years), and beyond the Bible (which I've read but didn't really "internalize")....I am about half way through the lessons (this is the part you should focus on - the other parts are optional), and I look forward every morning to reading a new lesson - or internalizing the previous lesson...I like this book so much I am going to give out about 7 copies for the holiday's to family and friends......And for any of you with significant health challenges (like me) - what you learn from this book will help you.....Start with lesson one, practice each lesson, have patients, and before you know it - you will see the light....As far as some of the reviews on here that were not so kind, I will not pass judgment of these folks - but wish them well in there journey to "seeing the light".

I wanted to share some of the most interesting ones with you.Here they are:1.- INFINITE PATIENCE DELIVERS IMMEDIATE RESULTSThe first time I read this one I laughed. I mean, c'mon! Immediate results, oh yeah, ha ha ha.I decided I to put it to the test, that very day. I needed to open a new bank account, and I knew these things take forever. Also I kind of needed it to work because I was already late for work. So I wanted it to work.When the bank representative asked for the usual documents and apologized for the computer being slow, I took it as a sign. I said to myself: infinite patience delivers immediate results. Then...I said to him: "Take your time. No rush at all". (I was sweating inside)But I meant it.The account was open within 12 minutes (I tracked it). I've never seen that happen in a NYC bank before. I was early for work.You see, the thing with this spell is that it has magic in it: it removes "time" from the equation.The first part has the word "infinite" in it: We are outside of time, no beginning, no end, NO TIME.That in turn, is coupled with "patience", which is a human demonstration of infinity.The second part has the word "immediate" in it, which means NOW. NO TIME. I'd attempted to read this book in my 20's and found it tough - would have been better for me to work through in a group but was somewhat embarrassed because it wasn't mainstream. Recently I started viewing Marianne Williamson's YouTube videos on the course. She is a phenomenal speaker; I recommend her summaries of ACIM. A few days ago I had a dream where I saw a cross, felt intense pressure on my chest, and heard my favorite band, U2, sing the words clearly, "And of the man and the earth"... I had been thinking of the msg that we are expressions of that creative, infinite-love mind and that this is what is real - not the ego, not the fear. Though intensely personal & subjective, I share on this platform because whether psychosomatic, or self-induced - the impactful, creative delivery of that msg. was beautiful and reassuring. I do not believe in one faith over another. I have found that disciplined, sustained study is required for peace. I hope to continue ACIM studies & absorb other's affirmations. Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists; herein lies the peace of God.

This is a good travel book for Australia, and hits all the highlights. We usually are Rick Steves fans, so this book lacks a bit of that personal touch that his have, but it's a good starting point with good information. I would couple it with online and trip advisor research.

I bought this prior to a ten day trip in Turkey in December 2014. First of all, this may be my first Fodor's book. I'm more of a Rick Steve's person, but he didn't have a book that covered more than Istanbul. Now, this book definitely covered all of the places that I visited. However, information was hit or miss, it was not well organized, and half of the time I couldn't find the information I actually wanted (i.e. location, opening hours, cost, etc.). Yes, we used this extensively throughout our trip. No, it did not really help at all. Overall very disappointed in this travel guide.

I will be taking this book with me in a couple of months, and have already read through the sections that correlate to my itinerary. From here, I think the the book has a variety of options and choices for all budgets, plus a lot of very useful information for a first-time traveler to Turkey. My chief complaint is the book's weight. I am tempted to take a razor to it and take only the first half, the half that is of interest to me; although there is section in the back that has helpful information like phrases, info on getting around by bus, taxi, car, ferry, etc., women traveling alone (my situation), and more. It may not be comprehensive on any one area, but let's face it, Turkey is a BIG country. You wouldn't expect a travel guide on the US to have everything in it, either. So, I'll have at least one other book (solely on Istanbul) with me, good maps, and I've already made some very friendly contacts over there through the site Couchsurfing. Happy travels!

We used this guide during our recent trip to Istanbul. Excellent! From sightseeing to restaurants all recommendations were right on! My wife had bought one of the $5 travel app's plus we had trip advisor on our devices and we could clearly see the differences between a professionally edited book and a "crowd sourced" app.My wife's only complaint was that this was a hard copy and would love to have the same book "downloadable" on her i-pad.

This was a pretty terrible travel guide. Instead of including tidbits and history, its full of tourist spots. The maps are not very detailed anx there are no city maps. We ended up buying a different guide onxe we got to Australia because this was lacking so much information. I'll stick to Lonely Planet in the future.

It is a little difficult to move around and find information in the book, probably better to have a guide in paperback.

Great value for the price.

Got this along with a few others at the Boise Public Library first and decided it was just what was needed so ordered this one from Amazon. It was perfect. What a great city to visit!
