But lets think about this.a) Jesus' name is not Jesus Christ like someone's name today is "Bob Smith".b) Christ is an English rendering of the Greek work Christos, which simply means "Messiah" (Hebrew).c) The term "Christian" in much of the world has far more cultural connotations than it does spiritual.So noting item "c", above, many people feel they are born Christian because of the culture in which they were born, and others are born Muslim because of the culture in which they are born.A key point made in the book is that just as someone who goes to a Christian church must have a personal encounter with Jesus, and just as "Messianic Jews" are accepted by many Christians, we should accept Muslims who come to a personal relationship with Jesus since, after all, their prophet also taught reverence for Jesus.Another key point is that in dialogues with people from Islamic backgrounds we should share knowledge based on a huge common point - Jesus. As a matter of fact, westerners could learn a LOT from people from the middle east with regards to faith since the Bible came from that part of the world. Culturally we in the west miss some subtleties because of our cultural lenses (Wow, westerners don't know it all! What a thought!)I strongly recommend that you read this book and keep an open mind. I also recommend that you actually take notes on specific things that you find disturbing or that seem counter to scripture and then, after finishing the book and getting the entire picture about those points, see if you can reconcile those perspectives with scripture OR if you find that they are counter to it.Spoiler alert for Christians: the author does not DENY any of the foundations of the faith. He does stress that what one EMPHASIZES and when one emphasizes it is very important. Relationships are key.

I have many muslim friends and this has given me new ideas on how to approach the 'God' conversations. I'm very pleased with his straight forward down to earth approach. Thank you!

I really like Madearis' approach to what he calls "not evangelizing", rather than trying to force our beliefs on others. The book is very interesting and easy to read.

Though this is a smaller (ie page-wise) missal than the Roman Missal, the pages are much thinner, and as noted by another reviewer,you can see through the paper to the next page. I found it difficult to find the ordinary of the Mass, even in the table of contents.I will stick to the larger Roman Missal, though it has content I will never use, it is printed on much better paper and I find it easier to use.

This is my first Missal after leaving the Novus Ordo and attending Latin-only Chapels. It is beautiful, easy to use, and has everything you need to follow the daily Mass plus lots of extra prayers, etc. The faux leather cover doesn't bother me. Angelus Press does a great job!

I needed a new Missal since my old one was getting dilapidated. Great edition, covers every day not just Sundays and Holy Days. Includes additional prayers and Sacraments besides Mass. Features sidebar notes in the ordinary of the Mass to help you reflect on the Mass prayers.There's a table with dates for Easter and so on going way into the future. For some reason I find this comforting. My old Missal ran out of dates in a similar table at 1970, kind of odd when you think about it in light of events in November 1969.One of my most cherished possessions, as it would be for anyone who loves the Mass.

This missal has rather thin paper, but there is a lot between the covers. The flexible cover is also rather thin, but the overall weight is lighter than it would have been with heavier paper and a thicker cover. It has very nice ribbons which don't fray, and the gilting is very nicely done. The arrangement of the content makes this a very easy missal to use. Of special note, and the reason for the 5-star review, is the collection of private prayers found in the front of the missal. It is an absolutely outstanding collection. I use this missal for daily prayers.The fact it is published by the Angelus Press shouldn't make anyone hesitate to buy this edition. The poster who wrote the caution should have researched his objection more carefully.

ALL prayers, ALL ceremonial instructions, ALL Trad Catholic Liturgies, even sidebar commentary on the Latin Roman Rite Mass and WHY things are being done the way they are.For any non-Catholic, Catholic convert, or even us cradle Catholics coming back to our precious Sacred Liturgy that was ripped away after the "pastoral" VCII, this definitely the missal to get. If I had ONLY one book in my possession, THIS would be it.

My wife and I have been going to the Latin Mass for about two years now. It has been a whole new experience to attend Mass in the manner the Catholic Church originally envisioned. This Missal has the Latin version of Mass on one side of the page, and in English on the other. It is very easy to follow and I've never been more in touch with how the Mass is prayed before. I understand this is to be a very popular year when this was originally published. I highly recommend this Missal.

I've used many of the pre Vatican II missals to include but not limited to the New Marian Missal, the St Andrew's Daily Missal, The Roman Missal (Fr. Lasance), and the St Joseph's Missal. I like this one better than all of them. It's very clear and easy to follow, it has an easy to read index, it has very useful explanations throughout the mass and many days throughout the year which are helpful to me and to friends who attend the Latin mass with me who are not as familiar, it has rubrics which kinda tell you what the priest is doing in case it's difficult to follow him, and I could go on.Con: the only con that I have for this missal and the ONLY reason that I took one star is that it's imitation leather here on Amazon, but that's an easy fix at [...] They offer a Very nice leather one for $68.00 I gave my imitation leather one away and now I have the Leather one.

This book was a very good read. It met and exceeded my expectation. It is holistic in its approach beginning with defining sin, kicking against the goads to the overarching theme of whoever resists the authority that God has set in place resists God. We have to honor positions of authority beyond personality, whether we think they should have the position or not. We should not slander governmental authority as this action is antichrist. We are to be respectful to the office they hold because God put them there. Even if you think they are not behaving correctly honor them, God is the one who brings judgment. If you are dissatisfied with your leaders you will complain, and complaining leads to insubordinate behavior. Criticizing authority shows a lack of the fear of the Lord.I highly recommend this book. We have to learn God’s order and submission to authority and obedience is God’s way. We must be willing and obedient.

I can not find anywhere in the New Testament that pastors have any more authority than anyone else. ... But in Americanized christianity, the "pastor" has been put on a throne that the Word does not establish. Undercover encourages the idea that a pastor’s opinion is equal to God’s word. The pastor hears from God and then translates it to you. Anyone can decide one day they heard from God, start a church, and they are immediately Moses. As your spiritual authority they become your interpreter of God’s voice. Terrible decisions and horrible treatment can be justified by merely saying “God told me some things.” It can also give instant weight to whatever the “Man of God” says. Undercover even threatens you with divine retribution for speaking up about mistreatment while promising divine reward for remaining quiet and “submitted to authority”. The authority’s offense does not matter to God but your response does. This is open season for abuse and is not biblical. Jesus himself preached much more sternly against the hypocritical “pastors” of his day (Matt 23:2) than he ever did a believer daring to question authority. Yet Mr Bevere gave no examples of divine retribution for bad leaders as they damage life after life. I guess God’s punishment is reserved for those of us that do not have pastor in front of our name. This creates a perfect environment for spiritual abuse.

EVERYONE should read this. As a leader, my first required reading for team members is this book, after the bible. Most people don't know how to submit to authority. Most see authority as someone trying to "tell them what to do", not recognizing their behavior as rebellion. This teaches EVERYONE how and when to submit to authority. I have given this book away countless times and just ordered 2 more copies.

Just when I read chapter 13, my first test came. And I failed! But to God be the Glory for bringing my mind back to Him, after my anger subsided! Wow! I now know that I am not as humble and obedient to authority as I thought I was! I thank God for His Grace and Mercy! Amen! I am a work in progress, as they say! I will keep fighting for my salvation until the day I die! Whew!

I gave this book 5 stars because John Bevere knows what he is talking about by the Spirit of God's WordNot by his own personal revelations or FEELINGS but by the Word of God and the experiences God placed him to understand His Word about authority in the churchRomans 13 give you a glimpse of God's word for those commenting John Bevere keeps using Old Testatment and John don't know what he's talking about and 1 Corinthians 11 about order and even Romans 12:4-5 where we are many members but one body and every member has it's own functionGod is a God of order and just like the military, school system and even our own household we have different ranksMy children will never run my household because 1. It's my household and I set the rules and 2. They are children and they are not capable of running a household and 3. How does it look for a child to discipline a parentBut this happens in the Christian churches of American todayWe can follow the order and commands in other places but churchHahahaha the devil got us fooled and this is where Proverbs 5:23, Hosea 4:6, Job 36:12 & Proverbs 10:21---We are destroyed because of our lack of knowledgeI find it amazing how we would pay hundreds, thousands and in many cases tens of thousand of dollars to go listen to a celebrity/motivational speaker, watch a game or even a concert but when it comes to God's anointed ones just to give a dollar offering we complain and say, "It's not God." (I only made his statement because some of the reviews also complained about giving money to the preachers, etc.)So in the end I ask:Can a student teach the teacher?Can a coach be coached by a team player?Can a child discipline a parent?And, yes, we have corrupt pastors, preachers, etc.We also have corrupt politicians, police officers, teachers, waiters, celebrities, etc. etc. and I'm sure you are still voting for them, using them for protection, teaching your children, serving your meal and watching their movies/listening to their CDsOkay I wrote enough in the end if you want the heart and mind of God when it comes down to authority in the body of ChristGET THIS BOOK :-)Thank you and God bless

All I can say is dont waste your time. Read Rob Bell's book" what is the Bible" cause once you see, you cant unsee and once you taste, you cant un taste. Life is a beautiful thing. Stop searching for his covering when its already there. Go enjoy this world that God intended for us to enjoy.

This book was not what I initially thought it would be, it was better! Through scriptural teaching, Under Cover exposes our vulnerability when we do not obey and submit to authority. This book took me to whole new level of understanding in this area. Thank you for obeying the Lord and writing this book. Highly recommend.

This is more a knock on Amazon than the book.Description says the eBook is screen reader compatible but it doesn’t work on any of my iOS devices.Bummer because I’ve already got the paperback.
